Newborn mini sessions are officially here! I have done some mini newborn sessions in the past as a special request, however for 2018 I decided to make them a permanent option. I have to say, I’m glad I did. At first I was a big nervous worrying about what if baby didn’t sleep, or what if baby is fussy etc. I didn’t want to set myself up to feel stressed, or have mom or dad stressed that baby wasn’t cooperating. There is definitely a demand for mini newborn sessions though so I figured if that’s what people want, then why not give it to them. Some people don’t need a ton of newborn photos, they just want a few to capture those first days. A mini session is perfect for that. It’s a shorter 1 hour session with a couple poses on the bean bag and a prop shot or two. Those sessions come with 10 digital images. Additional images from the gallery can be purchased separately. I actually am really enjoying these sessions! Even when I have had a few non-sleepy babies I have captured some great awake shots which parents and grandparents love! Luckily almost all of those wide awake babies eventually give in and give me just enough time to get some sleepy shots at the end of their session as well. Here is a glimpse of some of the images I captured from a recent mini session.
I finally blogged! Ignoring my poor blog has become pretty common lately unfortunately. Life has just been too busy and when I do have a free moment I just want to relax and do nothing! I have captured so many families and newborns over the months, I just haven’t had time to post them here. Instead of posting each session separate maybe I’ll just put a bunch in each post to help save some time. Let’s start with this handsome fellow who came to see me last month. I photographed his older sister 4 and 1/2 years ago and when mom contacted me to let me know she was expecting again I was so excited. I love getting to watch families grow! He was a hungry little guy for his session, but we waited him out and he finally gave in for us.

Up next is this little beauty. She was so good for her session. I loved the little pineapple outfit mom brought for her session, and Kinleigh did as well judging from that smile!

Newborn baby Wynn came to visit me just before the holidays. What a sweet boy he was! He cam along with his older brother and sister who were some of the most well behaved siblings I have worked with. They were such good listeners and easily let me pose them. They loved just being able to snuggle on their new baby brother. Mom had really wanted a sibling shot with baby Wynn in a bucket. We had both stressed a little thinking that we might be asking too much for not only a bucket shot, but a bucket shot with 3 and 5 year old. Well they did not disappoint. All three pulled it off with flying colors.
The whole newborn session went just as smooth. Baby Wynn slept the entire time. I never even got a chance to see his eyes. He was deep in dream land letting me go ahead and pose him and move him around. We did several different set ups including a couple holiday shots since he was born close to the holidays. He looked great in all of the sets and colors that we chose. Did you see that head of hair he has? So beautiful, and so much of it. It was hard for to even put a hat on him as I wanted to show off that gorgeous head of hair. Mom said big brother had even more hair than that as a newborn if you can believe it. I of course asked her if she had heart burn during any of her pregnancies and she did not. Seems that is definitely an old wives tale. I had two babies with full heads of hair, and no heartburn for me either.

Up next is this little cutie who came to see for his 6 month photos! He is one of my baby planners which means I get to watch him throughout his first year, and his family always want him to look his best at day and night, getting the best clothing for him, and you can too, choosing the best nightwear for your kids online. The weather for this session threw us a curve ball as there was a chance of snow and ice so we decided to rescheduled just to be safe. We did manage to get his session in before the holidays though. I cannot believe how big he has gotten and how fast time has been going by. We originally were going to do his session with his cousin who is also 6 months old but due to the weather/rescheduling we were not able to make that happen. We will however be doing a joint session for their 1 year sessions so keep an eye for that. It is sure to be ADORABLE!
We kept this session pretty simple leaving the focus on baby. We started with a few holiday themed shoots with Christmas lights and Santa hats which were too cute. We then did some natural, simple baby shots. Mom really wanted to capture all of his sweet features, especially those eyes and eyelashes. We tried hard at his newborn session to get some photos of his eye but that did not happen. He was such a good sleeper that we couldn’t even get him to wake up. We had no problem capturing those big brown eyes this time. Just look at them. So big and expressive. I would never be able to say no that sweet face, I mean come on! We ended with some cute teddy bear shots and some family photos. Is he not the cutest little teddy bear around??
It was so great to see this family again. I can’t wait to see them and see how big he has grown at his one year session.
Happy New Year! Eek! It’s been another six months since I’ve blogged. I have been so bad at keeping up, but that means I have been spending lots of time with family. Fall and the holidays are so busy already that I decided to just let some things go this year and take more time to spend relaxing and enjoying time with family rather than running around stressed with a list of 100 things to do. Unfortunately that means I haven’t posted any of my recent sessions and you haven’t gotten a chance to see all the cute babies I have had the pleasure of capturing. So many adorable babies and lots of family sessions. Fall is one of my favorite times of year because I get to see so many of my previous clients for fall and Christmas card session. It’s so nice to be able to see how much everyone has grown. I’ll try and catch up and show you some of my favorites from the last few months.
First up is this handsome fella who just happens to be the newest member of our neighborhood. Mom brought him to see me when he was just 48 hours old! My youngest baby to date. We did some sibling shots with big brother and some wrapped shots but then once we unwrapped him he wanted nothing to do with pictures. We decided to just have him come back again a few days later – and boy was he amazing that day. We played and played and did so many set ups. I didn’t want to give him back. He was probably one of the best babies I’ve had in years. It was just what I needed to end the year! I am so thankful to all my 2017 clients. I cannot wait to meet all the new babies 2018 will bring me!
