Wow. I’m not even sure where to start. One of my professional goals for 2012 was to tackle my first set of twins. I knew it was going to be a challenge, but I also knew it was going to be rewarding. Sometimes getting one newborn sleepy and posed for a session is hard work. Two is obviously harder. Twice as many feet and hands to wrangle, twice the poop and pee, and twice the bottles. It was a good thing I had an extra set of hands to help me. A super big thank you to Laddy Kortekaas for coming all the way from Charlotte to help me out!
Sweet baby “P” and “T” are identical twin boys. They were just 4 1/2 pounds when they came to see me. By the far the tiniest babies I’ve had to date. They were so sweet and I was simply amazed by watching how they interact with each other. When one grunts, the other responds. When one moved an arm, the other would move theirs – and this happened a lot. The only thing that wasn’t always the same was that one seemed to always be awake while the other was sleeping! We kept them swaddled for most of their session as it seemed to be the only way to keep them both sleeping at the same time. For my first set of twins, I think I did ok! I learned a lot, and hopefully will be able to put that into practice for my next set. Thanks to mom and big sister “B” for helping with the sweet boys and for trusting me with them. This isn’t the last you will see of them, we’re going to do their family shots in a separate session so stay tuned!
Sweet baby “T” and his smiles! He was full of them for us!

This one describes most of our session – one asleep, one awake =)
Our family spent the day with one of our favorite families. We were lucky enough to avoid the rain so took advantage of it and did some family pictures and 6 month pictures for sweet baby Rylee. She has the most amazing eyes. We tried to get big brother in there too which was no easy task. He wanted to be off and running around with the girls. Who can blame him, I can’t compete with that! Thanks for having us over and letting our kids go crazy. Here’s an extra large preview because well, I have a hard time narrowing them down =)
This had to be my quickest session ever. 15 minutes before the sky opened up and poured down on us. I met with “B” and his mom in a park in downtown Raleigh. We were hoping to get some nice outdoor/nature type shots. Well what we did was end up hiding on some porches, under some trees and over hangs. We just had to make the best of the situation and grab a couple of shots for mom. Thanks for braving the crazy weather with me, and getting soaked!
So excited to be hosting the he said. she said. photography workshop in Raleigh August 17 & 18th. Go check it out! More details coming soon =)
These two precious sisters have birthdays close together. Big sister is 3, and little sister is 1. Mom has been trying and working extra hard to get their pictures taken. We headed out Saturday morning which was cold and gray, and little sister just was not in the mood. Luckily big sister was in a great mood and gave me a morning of smiles. We decided to try again this morning to get little sister’s pictures, and I’m so glad we did. We got a few more smiles and a little bit more warmth which helped us to get these adorable pictures. Here’s your extra large sneak peek mom – you deserve it after all your planning and effort!
