My daughter turned four years old this past weekend. I can’t believe she is already four! We took her home from the hospital on Valentine’s day, so this holiday will always be extra special to me. Olivia wanted a Tangled theme because she is all about some princesses, so a Tangled theme she got! We spent the last week or two getting ready for the party. I let her help with the decorations so that we could spend some quality time together. It also helped make the party special since it had our own unique touches to it rather than just store bought items – not to mention is saves a little money! Ok so anyone who has seen Tangled is familiar with the story of Rapunzel, the hair and the tower. Ah, the tower… let’s start with that. Get ready because this is pretty AMAZING….
I was speechless when i saw it. Even pictures don’t do it justice. it was perfect in every way. So where did the magnificent cake come from you ask??
Iriene at www.artyliciouscakes.com. She is amazing. And sweet. You need to call her. Now. Seriously, call her. She is super talented. In our discussions I just mentioned to her that we were having a Tangled party and would some how like to incorporate the tower in it. I thought maybe a simple cake and a small tower somewhere on the cake. I should have known better by looking at her pictures. She incorporated the tower all right. What a beautiful centerpiece it made. Not only was it gorgeous, but it was also delicious! Even my husband was impressed with the cake, and trust me he does not get excited over something like cake. We will definitely be using Iriene again in the future and I am so glad to have gotten the chance to meet and work with her. Not only did I find a great new vendor but I made a new friend as well. Please stop by www.artyliciouscakes.com
or her facebook page –https://www.facebook.com/pages/Artylicious-Cakes/172283269496404 and leave her some love. You won’t be sorry!
To say my daughter was pleased is an understatement. You can see from her smile and her eyes just how much she adored it! We didn’t have the heart to touch the tower. It’s actually still sitting on our counter. It’s too perfect to ruin!
Here are some of the decorations we made for the party. We made hair braid crowns for each of the girls. We also made wishing lanterns and hung them around the house. Instead of streamers we strung yards of yellow yarn as “Tangled” hair. My daughter LOVED it.
I think the party was a huge success. My only problem is how are we going to top this next year???
Yesterday was a beautiful 70 degree day, in January! I got to spend the afternoon photographing the “W” family. They had family here for the Holidays and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to capture some family pictures together. While the men certainly were not excited about having it done, they humored me and put up with me long enough to make sure we got some great shots. I hope it wasn’t too painful for them, and that they’ll think it was worth it once they see the pictures. I certainly think it was and I’m pretty sure the rest of the family will agree. Besides capturing the typical family pictures, I tried to also capture some of them moments that happened in between. Often times those are the pictures I like the best. This was definitely one of those times. Here’s your sneak peek, I had a hard time narrowing it down. I seem to have that problem a lot. Maybe I’ll work harder on that in 2012.
I spent Saturday morning with the wonderful Prince family. It was another beautiful fall day. We have really lucked out with the weather this year! Their daughter led the way around the Arboretum and she led the session as well. She told us where to sit and when to smile, and who was going to go first. I loved it! I haven’t had a child so excited to take pictures before. Getting smiles out of her was super easy! I know mom’s goal was to get a good Christmas card picture and I’m pretty sure we accomplished that mission. I have lots of other choices for her, but these are some of my favorites! Thank you so much Prince family, I had so much fun laughing and getting to know you all =)
This fall has been crazy busy. I’ve been booked with photo sessions every weekend and have had no time to take any pictures of my girls, well good ones at least. The pumpkin patch was a HUGE fail. My youngest refuses to sit and my oldest was in a mood that day. The one picture I have is actually comical. One is screaming and the other pouting. I’ll have to post it soon. Halloween was also a big fail. Again, my youngest refuses to wear a costume so the whole family (including my brother, his girlfriend, nanny and poppy) dressed up as the wizard of oz without toto. We made her put it on at least for one picture and she screamed. So me being obsessed with pictures has been quite disappointed with our own lately! Because of that, on our way to go pick up dinner tonight I grabbed my oldest and stopped for a quick 20 minute photo session. Finally some decent pictures. Now I’ll have to work up the courage to do the same with my youngest, forget about getting them both at the same time! Anyways… just wanted to share with you all a little bit of my own personal life. It’s been a while since I’ve posted any recent pics so here’s a bunch of my Olivia to make up for it =)
