I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon this weekend with Iriene from Artylicious cakes. We met over at the WRAL gardens for a family session which was tons of fun, and then we switched gears and put the spotlight on mom. Remember the post I did on the amazing “Tangled” cake she did for my daughter’s fourth birthday (if not you can check it out here – http://www.kristikrusephotography.com/2012/02/15/tangled-up-in-birthday-fun-raleigh-child-photographer), well now you get to meet the amazing talented woman behind Artylicious cakes. She’s just a sweet as her cakes are, and I’m blown away with her work and details. I find myself at a loss for words other than amazing. I’m so glad that I found her and even more so that I can call her a friend. Here’s an extra large post with showcasing Iriene, who I may just start calling Raleigh’s cake boss!
Make sure to stop by: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Artylicious-Cakes/172283269496404 and artyliciouscakes.com – check her out, leave her some love and enjoy her art!
She’s just as beautiful as her cakes =)
And now for the cakes! Iriene brought two cakes with her to the gardens. Not surprising that a crowd started to quickly gather and admire her work while we were photographing the cakes. Everyone was convinced the flowers on the cakes were real, but they are in fact sugar and 100 percent edible!
Look at these flowers. They look so real. I promise you, they are not. Pure sugar. Amazing detail. I know, I used the word amazing again. I told you, I seriously am at a loss of words to describe these cakes!
And because this sweet lady is not only amazing at making cakes, she’s also an amazing mom. =)
Thank you Iriene for spending the afternoon with me and for sharing your creations with me.

Triangle Children’s Resource Guide is run by Michelle Fish. When I asked Michelle how TCRG got started, here’s what she had to tell me:
“Before becoming a mom of five I was a paramedic and after having my second child realized I couldn’t keep those hours anymore. My husband and I purchased Kid to Kid in Cary in 2007 because I fell in love with the concept of selling your used baby items. As a small business owner I saw a need for a simple to the point advertising outlet for kid friendly and mom based businesses that didn’t cost a fortune. As a mom I saw the need for a resource of fun and different things to do. I also wanted to have a kids eat cheap section to of course save a little when we go out to eat with all those kiddos. I also organize the Holly Springs Mommies Meet up group and the moms are always looking for something to do with and without the kids. So it just made since. My biggest challenge so far is working from home with the little kids, and of course them not understanding deadlines. Having to stop and look at everything every five seconds and making a simple phone call with out the receiver hearing my children yelling 🙂
It also features all the places “Kids Eat Cheap” in and around the Triangle.
So head on over to their website http://www.childrensresourceguide.com and facebook page https://www.facebook.com/childrensresourceguide and check it out for yourself.
If you are thinking of getting holiday photos then please contact me ASAP. I have only a few spots left between now and the end of the year. I would hate for you to miss out on getting your family photos done.
Also, if you are expecting and wanting me to do your newborn portraits, please contact me so we can put your tentative due date on the calendar!
I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful fall weather we’re having. It’s hard to believe it’s already Halloween! I’ll have to do a personal post soon to blog about my own girls. I’ve been so busy with everyone else’s pictures I haven’t done any of my family!
Today I received an amazing package in the mail. I discovered Tinker & Art a while back and simply fell in love with their work. I quickly knew I must have one! I sent them a favorite picture of my daughter I had taken and asked if they would be able to use it to create one of their amazing works of art. I think it came out absolutely perfect and am amazed at the likeliness and detail work done. Now I get to wear my little girl close to my heart each and every day! If you have a special photograph you would like to turn into a piece of art – contact me! Better yet, let’s set up a session and get an amazing photo that you can use to turn your memory into art. Check out tinkerandart.com to see more amazing examples of their work. You can even combine two photographs to get the look you going for. Pop on over to my facebook page to see a quick picture of me wearing my new art!
